Covid-19 Resources

By Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine UK, 8 Jan, 2021 | 4 min read

The following page contains a list of useful resources and information for clinicians on the COVID outbreak. We are living at a moment of unprecedented global health challenge, and we believe that by working together the medical workforce can support the country to overcome these difficulties.

Living with COVID

In February 2022, the UK Government set out plans for removing remaining legal restrictions while continuing to protect people most vulnerable to COVID. Read the statement here.

Secretary of State for Health and Social Care Sajid Javid provided a written update on plans for living with COVID on 29 March, including information on mask wearing for health and care staff. Read the update here.

Moving Medicine has produced resources for people recovering from COVID-19, featuring safe and effective information to help them take control and start building their body back to normal. The resources include a video, and series of top tips for recovery. Visit the Moving Medicine website or download the patient information leaflet.

The NHS has also launched a website for people recovering from COVID-19, which includes detailed information on what to expect and strategies for managing the effects.

Staying Active at Home

While many of the legal restrictions around COVID have now been removed, there may still be a requirement for those who test positive to isolate at home. This is vitally important but the value of physical activity in remaining well, reducing the risk of deconditioning and preventing the worsening of other illnesses that we may have is equally important.

View our helpful guidance on staying active at home, and please share with patients or colleagues as appropriate.

Sport England has also produced some resources on how to stay active. Visit their website for more, or follow the hashtag #StayInWorkOut on social media for updates.
