FSEM Response to The Medical Training Review
FSEM welcome the publication of the The Medical Training Review: Phase 1 diagnostic report. The extent of the listening events and stakeholder contributions to the report is evident and it strongly reflects and articulates the current state of medical training.
This review highlights the areas which doctors in training and educators wish to retain, whilst recognising the significant challenges that currently exist and the tension between some of the reform requests. The report demonstrates a substantial need for change in how the future medical workforce is developed and highlights the importance that this next phase is led by the medical profession and developed in collaboration with the whole medical workforce and with patients. FSEM are fully supportive of the recommendations and wish to contribute to and support the next phase.
