Minimum Standards

The Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine UK (FSEM) has officially launched three new minimum standards documents, in: Qualification and Certification; Athlete Immediate Care; Indemnity. These documents are designed to enhance the quality, safety, and consistency of medical care provided to athletes across the United Kingdom.

Led by Dr Jim Kerss, Chair of the FSEM Team Care Committee, the new standards reflect an extensive, collaborative effort involving clinicians, national governing bodies, indemnity providers, and members of the wider multidisciplinary team. This shared aim is clear: to create a safer, more structured environment in which athletes can rely on high‑quality medical care, and clinicians can practise with confidence and clarity.
