Careers in SEM

Careers in Sport and Exercise Medicine (SEM) can be varied in this broad-based specialty and SEM practitioners tend to work with in a multi-disciplinary team. SEM practitioners can work in a number of settings providing medical care across the NHS and sport and exercise at all levels.

SEM in the NHS

Sport and Exercise Medicine services in the NHS are flexible and can be delivered in primary, secondary and intermediate care settings. SEM physicians and consultants work in the NHS delivering Exercise Medicine Services and providing SEM-led Musculoskeletal Services.

As growing numbers of medical professionals choose to specialise in the area. the Faculty is actively working to increase the number of Sport and Exercise Medicine positions in the NHS.
