The Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine welcomes the new Institute of Sport, Exercise and Health
Dr Rod Jaques, President of the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine comments on the opening of the new Institute of Sport, Exercise and Health (ISEH), “ I am delighted to see a new dedicated sport and exercise medicine institute opening in London as part of the National Centre to treat both NHS patients and elite athletes. The specialty of sport and exercise medicine (SEM) has so much to offer in the prevention and treatment of common medical diseases and musculoskeletal conditions.The FSEM (Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine) has a key role in setting standards for sport and exercise medicine and we look forward to working with the new ISEH.”
Dr Mike Loosemore, a Lead Sports Physician in the English Institute of Sport and a Fellow of the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine who will be based at the ISEH comments: “The new ISEH will be key to increasing SEM practice, not only in London but across the UK and internationally, as it becomes the centre for clinical and academic work across the specialty. Alongside the treatment of elite athletes and NHS patients, the institute will provide a world class base for the education and development of SEM Doctors.”
The ISEH opened on the 24 June 2013, The Institute of Sport, Exercise and Health (ISEH) will provide a national and international hub for clinical and academic work in sport, exercise medicine and sports injury rehabilitation with the objective of becoming a world leader in its field.
