Physical Activity in Adolescence

The Faculty’s position statement Physical Activity in Adolescence has been reviewed and updated by the author Professor Neil Armstrong.

The statement includes evidence-informed recommendations for health-related physical activity in adolescents for the Sport and Exercise Medicine community and all health professionals to promote the benefits of regular physical activity in this population.  The statement highlights that recent objective studies, which have collected data using accelerometry, indicate that less than 25% of adolescents accumulate an average of 60 min per day of moderate physical activity.
