Influencing the Healthcare Landscape

The mission of the Faculty is to promote better health for all through excellence in musculoskeletal medicine, exercise medicine and team care. Sport and Exercise Medicine provides a cost-effective approach to the prevention and management of illness and injury.

Our public affairs priorities document includes our recommendations and priorities for healthcare, physical activity, sport medicine and wellness.

It outlines priorities to improve public health and provide much needed, cost effective skills and services to the NHS via Exercise Medicine and Musculoskeletal Medicine. It also contains our recommendations for the Duty of Care in Sport.

The FSEM (UK) is also a member of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges which brings together the views of 24 individual specialties to collectively influence and shape healthcare across the four nations of the UK.

Foreword by Dr Paul D Jackson, President of the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine (UK)

“Influencing public health policy and the NHS, the way in which patients are cared for, standards and availability of Sport and Exercise Medicine services in the UK is an important part of the work we do.

“The unique perspective and expertise of our Members and Fellows helps to shape healthcare policy on a number of key issues affecting the future direction of the specialty of Sport and Exercise Medicine and its ability to provide and improve healthcare services for the general public and those participating in sport and exercise at all levels.”
