Moving Medicine – Prescribing Movement for Parkinson’s

On World Parkinson’s Day, our Moving Medicine team launched a new online resource designed to help healthcare professionals have conversations with people living with Parkinson’s and their families about the benefits of keeping active.

Prescribing Movement for Parkinson’s is a free online tool that forms part of the existing Moving Medicine resource and supports healthcare professionals to have better conversations with patients and their families about being active.

Around 145,000 people in the UK are already living with Parkinson’s, and 18,000 more people are diagnosed each year. Being physically active has been shown to help manage the symptoms of the condition, as well as other symptoms like sleep problems and fatigue. Moving Medicine have worked with clinicians, experts, academics, charities and patients to develop the an evidence based, Parkinson’s specific resource using an award-winning behavioural change framework,.
