Mental Health Position Statement Engages Healthcare Community

The Faculty’s new statement The Role of Physical Activity and Sport in Mental Health has been shared widely across the SEM and healthcare community. The statement outlines the evidence for physical activity as an intervention for mental health conditions, recognising the many benefits physical activity can bring to mental health and wellbeing. The statement also addresses the need for further support in this area across professional sport.

The statement has been supported by key stakeholders, the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, the Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Alliance (ARMA), the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges (AoMRC) and the Clinical Journal of Sports Medicine (CJSM).

Please continue to use and share the statement with your networks.

The FSEM (UK) has a library of position statements, the statements are designed to be short easy reference documents for the Sport and Exercise Medicine and Healthcare communities. You can access the library here.
