Becoming a Member or Fellow

Joining Us

Our Members and Fellows are highly skilled Sport and Exercise Medicine Doctors and Consultants.

Entry to Membership and Fellowship of the Faculty is open to all Medical Doctors and can be done through the following paths:

Member MFSEM(UK)

Via passing the FSEM (UK) Membership Examination parts 1 and 2 and completing an application form to become a Member of the Faculty

Fellow FFSEM(UK)

Via completing Higher Specialty Training in Sport and Exercise Medicine including parts 1 and 2 of the FSEM (UK) Membership Exam. An application for Fellowship can be submitted on obtaining a CCT or CESR.

Diplomate Member

Diplomate membership is open to any doctor or allied health professional who has passed the Diploma in MSK Medicine examination.

Exercise Professional Member

Exercise Professional membership is open to Exercise Rehabilitation Instructors who have completed JSSERI training.

Associate Member

Associate membership is open to Sport and Exercise Medicine Registrars or trainees, medical undergraduates in the UK and Ireland with an interest in SEM, locums and associated specialists. This category has no nominals (FFSEM(UK) or MFSEM(UK) attached to it.

Honorary Fellow

The Faculty awards up to 3 Honorary Fellows per year who have made an outstanding contribution to Sport and Exercise Medicine across their lifetime or career. This category is not open to applications, you can view a list of our Honorary Fellows here.
