Faculty Visits the Institute of Sport, Exercise and Health
The Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine UK (FSEM) visited the Institute of Sport Exercise and Health (ISEH) with Dan Poulter, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department of Health and Ian Cumming, Chief Executive of Health Education England on Thursday 20 March 2014.
Dr Rod Jaques, President of the FSEM, Dr Phil Batty Vice President Elect FSEM and Dr Mike Loosemore Fellow of the FSEM were delighted to show Dr Dan Poulter and Mr Ian Cumming around the new institute, which opened last year as a lasting legacy from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, treating elite athletes, ‘weekend warriors’ and NHS patients under the same roof.
The visit was arranged to raise awareness of the great facilities for both sports participants and the general public and how exercise medicine can be applied to the NHS. New sport and exercise medicine posts are needed within the NHS to help offer similar services across the UK.
