Dr Natasha Jones Elected as Faculty President
Dr Natasha Jones has been elected to serve as the next President of the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine (UK).
Dr Jones will become the first female President in the Faculty’s 15-year history when she takes up office in December. Until then, she will serve as President-elect and work alongside the current President to further the interests of the Faculty and its membership.
“It is a tremendous honour to be elected President of the Faculty. I am looking forward to continuing our journey towards becoming an independent college by building and strengthening our partnerships across the specialty and within the NHS. Together I believe we can take the next steps towards presenting a unified voice for SEM,” said Dr Jones.
Dr Jones is an experienced sport and exercise medicine consultant working for the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust. She is also a Senior Sports Physician with the English Institute of Sport. Dr Jones has previously served as Vice-President of the Faculty, and currently heads the Moving Medicine initiative and leads our physical activity agenda.
Current President Dr John Etherington congratulated Dr Jones on her election:
“Dr Jones has already made many important contributions to the Faculty both as Vice-President and as clinical lead for Moving Medicine. I have no doubt that both the Faculty and our specialty will continue to make great strides under her leadership.”
