The British Medical Association (BMA) awards research grants each year (totalling approximately £500,000) to encourage and further medical research in a variety of areas, all funded by past bequests to the BMA.One of these grants, the Joan Dawkins award, is to assist research into repetitive head injury in sport. Applications are invited from medical practitioners or research scientists and can be for either research in progress or prospective research based in the UK. In 2013, the Joan Dawkins grant will be awarded for an amount up to £55,000. This grant and other BMA research grants will be available to apply for online on the BMA website from 11 December this year. The application deadline is 15 March 2013.
