2013 BMA SciEd Research Grants

Details of research grants available in 2013 by the BMA Science and Education Department (SciEd)

Below is a list of the research grants that will be awarded in 2013, some of which may be of interest to Faculty Members and Fellows. Online applications will open on 11 December 2012 and the  application deadline for the 2013 research grants will be 15 March 2013.

Doris Hillier – £55,000

To assist research into rheumatism and arthritis.

Applicants must be registered medical practitioners in the UK and a member of the BMA.

H C Roscoe – £50,000

To promote research into the elimination of the common cold and/or other viral diseases

of the human respiratory system.

Applicants must be members of the BMA or research scientists working with a member

of the BMA.

Helen H Lawson – £50,000

To assist research into rehabilitation in stroke care.

Applicants must be registered medical practitioners in the UK and a member of the BMA.

BMA Science and Education Department (SciEd)

Joan Dawkins – £55,000

To assist research into repetitive head injury in sport.

Applicants must be registered medical practitioners or research scientists. Projects must

relate to the UK only.

Josephine Lansdell – £50,000

To assist research in the field of heart disease.

Applicants must be registered medical practitioners in the UK and a member of the BMA.

Margaret Temple – £55,000

To assist research into schizophrenia.

Applicants must be registered medical practitioners or research scientists. Projects must

relate to the UK only.

Strutt and Harper – £40,000

To assist research into terminal care for non-cancer patients.

Applicants must be registered medical practitioners in the UK and a member of the BMA.

The James Trust – £55,000

To assist research into asthma.

Applicants must be registered medical practitioners in the UK and a member of the BMA.

T P Gunton – £40,000

To assist research into public health relating to cancer.

Applicants must be registered medical practitioners or research scientists in the UK.

Vera Down – £55,000

To assist research into neurological disorders.

Applicants must be registered medical practitioners in the UK and a member of the BMA
